As many of you know, Donna and I had a good friend pass away unexpectedly only a month ago. Click here to read about Eileen. And last Friday, my family and I said our last good-byes to my brother. Click here to read about Keith.
BUT just yesterday, we joyfully welcomed my nephew’s twin boys into the world.
Life is like that, isn’t it? Sadness and joy. Ups and downs. Death and life. We say, “Good-bye.” And we say, “Hello.”
We walk through life with family and friends, and they leave their fingerprint on our lives. But sometimes we have to say good-bye before we’re ready (if we’re ever ready). Then along comes the special gift of new life. Like the old tree trunk with new plants growing out of it. The tree appears dead but it’s providing nutrients for new growth to flourish. The old stump is making a difference to the life of the young plants that will grow from it.
That’s the way it is with all of us. We impact the lives of others while we’re here – whether for good or seemingly bad. And we leave something behind that affects the lives of others when we’re gone. It’s a form of mentoring.
What we leave for tomorrow, begins today. What are you doing today that will make a difference in what you leave behind?
Wow this is a great resource.. I’m enjoying it.. good article
